GEORGETOWN, Guyana (AP) — A fisherman in Guyana says he was attacked by a jaguar on a remote river in the Rupununi savanna near the border with Brazil. Clarence Bernard says he fought off the female cat by stabbing it several times as he yelled for help. Dr. Irv Chan said Thursday that Bernard's injuries correspond with an animal attack, but he could not say what type or size. Bernard, a father of three, was hospitalized Tuesday after relatives rescued him up on a bicycle and took him to an ambulance in the village. It is the second jaguar attack in recent months in the heavily forested rural area. A miner was killed in November while getting water from a creek.
