Lessons of conservation can be found in fishing. That’s why the Clay County Parks, Recreation and Historic Sites Department is partnering with the Missouri Department of Conservation to host two Clay County Fish Clinics. The clinics intend to teach children ages 7 to 14 the proper etiquette, practices and regulations related to fishing. “Our business is getting people to spend time outdoors,” said park ranger Caleb Jeffries about the importance of the annual clinics. “We want to teach them the proper techniques and the overall conservation mindset. We want to get kids interested in a new sport and the love of the outdoors.” The first clinic will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 24, at Rocky Hollow Park. ...
